In Milan, in Piazza Cinque Giornate, in the building that once housed one of the access toll-gates to the city, La Porta del Vino is born. This center was created with the aim of disseminating to the Milanese public the great variety and richness of Lombard wines above all, and then those of the wineries belonging to the Wine Tourism Movement throughout Italy that will want to be present. In this place are held, with a program that will become progressively more and more dense and rich, tastings and guided tastings, presentations of wineries, introductory and in-depth courses on the world of wine and on food pairings, public meetings on topics that concern wine.
This place is born and lives for strong and determined will of the Tourism Movement of the Lombard Wine, thanks to two convictions: the first is that there is in the public great desire to know more and more the extraordinary variety and richness of the panorama of the wines of our beautiful Italy; the second is that food and wine tourism needs the bread of basics, also in terms of knowledge, to be able to choose where and how to discover this wealth.
THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE
Certainly it is not a wine bar or a wine bar, but it is not even a “place for initiates”: it is above all the gateway to a journey into the world of Lombard and Italian wine. A journey that can be metaphorical – through tastings, presentations and narrations by experts and producers – but which can also be real, because all the producers present on the shelves and on the shelves of La porta del vino are active and convinced supporters of wine tourism, that is the great opportunity to learn to appreciate wine by visiting its production sites.

The wine door is an old toll gate in a place that has made the history of Milan and where the Wine Tourism Movement has opened its new site to promote the culture of wine and offer sensorial tastings of Lombard salami and cheese wines.
